Depositing Tokens You Already Hold

If your wallet already holds a supported tokenized stock, you can use it as collateral without selling it.

How to deposit

  1. Open the Borrow screen and pick the asset. The app shows how many tokens your wallet holds.
  2. Enter how many to deposit, and how much to borrow, if anything.
  3. Confirm. Deposit and borrow can happen in one signature.

What happens to a new deposit

  • It counts straight away. Your new collateral counts toward what you can borrow from the moment it arrives.
  • It joins the pool at the next cycle. Until then it is not covered by the current cycle's calls, so it is not affected by an assignment in that cycle and it does not add to that cycle's premium. Before the next cycle, Spout redeems the tokens with their issuer for the underlying shares, which are held in Spout's brokerage account so the calls on them are covered. See How Spout Works.
  • It stays for one cycle. A new deposit has to go through one options cycle before it can be withdrawn.

Only supported assets from approved issuers can be deposited. A token from another issuer for the same company is a different token and is not accepted unless it is supported. The app shows which tokens are accepted.
